Derby Ave. Fire (Seymour, CT) 7/8/04

SEYMOUR, CT - On July 8, at approximately 11:20am, the Seymour Fire Department was dispatched to Derby Ave right off of Route 8's exit 20 for a reported attic fire. Upon arrival, the members found heavy smoke pushing from the entire attic area above Derby Avenue Auto Sales and Service. The main body of fire was put under control in approximately 15 minutes and was held to the attic area. Derby and Ansonia were special called to the scene for mutual aid, and Shelton was called to cover Seymour firehouses. One firefighter was treated for heat exhaustion due to the high mid-day heat that the firefighters had to endure while battling the two alarm blaze.
