'The Bar' Fire (New Haven, CT) 2/9/06
NEW HAVEN, CT - At approximately 3:45pm on February 9, the New Haven Fire Department was dispatched to Crown Street for a structure fire. When the Battalion arrived, he transmitted a Signal 73, a working fire, in a 2-story commercial structure located in the City’s downtown area. A second alarm was later pulled because of the difficulty in fighting this fire. The fire was raging through the cockloft area, and access to it was hampered from above by four layers of roofing, as well as tin ceilings from below. The fire was located in a popular night club known as ‘Bar’. Workers were also helped off the roof when firefighters arrived. Cause of the fire was not known at the time of this article.
