Route 110 MVA (Shelton, CT) 9/30/07
SHELTON, CT – At 6:45am on September 30, Shelton Fire Companies 1 and 5, along with police and EMS were dispatched to Route 110 near Indian Wells State Park for a head on crash. Once on scene, they found two vehicles, one of which was an empty Dodge pickup truck heavily involved in fire, and the other was a Honda which had sustained major damage. A female driver was entrapped in the Honda and emergency personnel worked for approximately thirty minutes to extricate her from the car.
Emergency personnel were told after the crash that good Samaritans had played a huge roll in the outcome of this incident. After the two cars collided in the head on collision, the Honda became entangled with the pickup truck. The truck then ignited and became involved in fire. Good Samaritans Michael Bouchard and Ed Francis then unloaded 3 fire extinguishers into the truck which could not smother the blaze. Anthony Kezar, of Ansonia, then attached a tow strap to the Honda and pulled it from the burning Dodge with his own pickup truck.
