Woodsend Ave. Fire (Shelton, CT) 5/23/07
SHELTON, CT - At 12:51pm on May 23, the Shelton Fire Dispatch sent a full assignment to a working house fire at 40 Woodsend Road. Shelton Police Officer Bill Serrano was the first emergency responder on the scene and battled flames coming from the front door of the White Hills split-level house. Apparently, an extension cord plugged into a space heater was reported to be the cause of the blaze that started in a small room under the front stairs. Soon after, the fire extended from the room and headed up the stairs and made it out the front door. The fire was held in check by the police officer until fire units arrived to make the push into the basement, quickly knocking down the rest of the fire. Unfortunately, the fire claimed the life of the family cat named Tally.
