Shelton High School 3rd Alarm (Shelton, CT) 12/30/08
SHELTON, CT – Shortly before 1:00pm on December 30, 2008 the Shelton Fire Department was dispatched to Shelton High School for a structure fire. Incoming units found heavy fire in a maintenance room on the second floor. The fire quickly spread smoke throughout the school and so began an intensive ventilation effort.
It is reported that approximately 75 people were in the school at the time the fire alarm sounded for the blaze. The Shelton High School freshman basketball team was playing Masuk High School of Monroe. School was not in session due to the Christmas and New Year’s holidays. There were no reported injuries due to a successful evacuation of the school.
Companies from Shelton, Ansonia, Derby, Monroe, and Trumbull operated for most of the day to put this fire, which went to a third alarm, under control. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
