Silver Hill Rd. Fire (Derby, CT) 2/18/08
DERBY, CT – At approximately 9:30am on February 18, 2008, the Derby Fire Department was dispatched to 180 Silver Hill Road for ‘smoke coming from the garage’. Derby’s FD4 was the first to arrive on scene reporting a 1 story ranch heavily involved. The first due engine (Engine 11) went straight to deck gun operations to knock the bulk of the fire down before entering the structure. There were two occupants home at the time of the fire but escaped with minor injuries. Shelton Company 1 was dispatched to the scene as RIT while companies from Ansonia provided station coverage in Derby.
