Totem Tr. Fire (Shelton, CT) 3/18/08

SHELTON, CT – Shortly before 2:00pm on March 18, 2008, Shelton Companies 4, 1, and 3 were dispatched to 22 Totem Trail for a report of a house fire. The first officer on scene reported a working fire with heavy fire showing from the rear of the house. Smoke was reported visible from about a mile away. Two lines were immediately stretched for an interior attack, but entry could not be made due to the heavy fire conditions. A defensive attack was commenced, and the bulk of the fire had to be knocked down from the exterior. It was reported that the fire caused approximately $500,000 damage and the home was a total loss. None of the occupants were home at the time of the blaze, and one firefighter suffered a minor injury to his hand while battling the fire.
