Police Dive Training (Shelton, CT) 8/18/09

SHELTON, CT – On August 18, 2009, police divers from Shelton, Bridgeport, Fairfield, Milford, and Stratford converged on the Housatonic River in Shelton at the Sunnyside Boat Launch for a training exercise. The purpose of the drill, which was coordinated by Fairfield, was to train on using a helicopter to deploy divers rapidly to the scene of a major water emergency. The helicopter that was used was Fairfield’s police helicopter ‘Eagle One’. The divers were picked up by the helicopter in Stratford at Sikorsky Aircraft, and flown out to the dive site in Shelton where the divers jumped into the water from approximately 12 feet. They were then picked up by their respective marine units.
