Smith Ridge Rd. Fire (Weston, CT) 3/24/09

WESTON, CT – Early in the afternoon on March 24, 2009, the Weston Fire Department was dispatched to Smith Ridge Road for a structure fire. First in units found a fully involved house with major extension to the surrounding brush. Dry conditions, along with gusting winds caused the fire to spread dangerously close to many other homes in the area. Upon completion of firefighting operations later that day, several acres had burned, and mutual aid had been provided from many of the surrounding fire departments.
