J&B Auto Body Fire (Shelton, CT) 12/11/10
SHELTON, CT – Shortly after 8:00am on December 11, 2010, the Shelton Fire Department was dispatched to a working fire at 582 Howe Avenue. First in companies found heavy smoke showing from a 1 story commercial auto body. An employee that had arrived for work that morning reported seeing flames showing from a furnace. Those flames quickly spread to the ceiling of J&B Auto. Members made an aggressive interior attack, coupled with rooftop ventilation, and the fire was quickly put under control. In all, 70 firefighters arrived on scene from all four Shelton fire companies and mutual aid from Derby. Two of the Shelton fire companies were already operating on Route 8 at the scene of a fatal crash when the fire was dispatched.
