Shooting Range/Skatetime Fire (Monroe, CT) 11/3/10
MONROE, CT – At 10:15am on November 3, 2010, the Stepney, Monroe, and Stevenson volunteer fire departments were dispatched to a commercial building fire at 193 Main Street (Route 25). First in companies found fire in the rear of a bowstring truss structure that housed the Fairfield Indoor Shooting Range and Skateworld Roller Rink. An interior attack was commenced on the gun range side where the fire was located, but members were evacuated shortly after conditions deteriorated rapidly due to the fire load in the gun store. The fire quickly spread to the roller rink and operations stayed defensive for the rest of the duration. Water supply proved to be difficult and a combination of hydrant supply and tanker shuttle operation was effected. Mutual aid was given by Long Hill, Trumbull Center, Nichols, Botsford, Shelton, Newtown Hook and Ladder, Sandy Hook, Easton, Bethel, Redding, Danbury, Dodgingtown, Oxford, and Seymour.
