Hawkins St. Fire (Derby, CT) 1/16/11

DERBY, CT – On January 16, 2011, the Derby Fire Department was dispatched to 103 Hawkins Street for a reported structure fire. First companies on scene found fire showing from a second floor bedroom of a 2 ½ story wood frame. The fire was already extending to the third floor as members started an aggressive interior search for the report of a trapped child. It was soon determined that the child had made it to safety before arrival of the fire department. The fire, which broke out at 8:45 am, was put under control in approximately 20 minutes.
