Hancock Ave. General Alarm (Bridgeport, CT) 6/21/12
BRIDGEPORT, CT – Shortly after 7:00pm on June 21, 2012, the Bridgeport Fire Department was dispatched to a reported commercial building fire at the corner of Hancock and Railroad Avenues in the City’s West End. The first due engine arrived on scene and reported heavy smoke and fire from the first floor of a four story factory complex. Shortly thereafter, extra alarms were transmitted to fight the rapidly spreading blaze until all of the City’s units were exhausted. The fire would then spread to another 3 story factory, and finally to a third factory. Metro North and Amtrak Railroads were also delayed due to the heavy smoke pushing from the block long factory complex. Firefighters also had to endure high summer temps in the 90’s throughout the incident.
