Wopowog Trail House Explosion (Shelton, CT) 9/10/12

SHELTON, CT – Shortly before 2:00pm on September 10, 2012, Shelton the Fire Department was dispatched to 67 Wopowog Trail for a reported house explosion. First in companies found fire in the basement of a 2-story wood frame located in the Pine Rock Park section of the city. The explosion, which looked to be caused by a propane gas leak that occurred while the gas company was on scene doing work, injured 3 parties that were in the house at the time of the incident. Two of the victims were gas utility workers, and the third was a resident of the home. A line was quickly stretched into the basement to knock the fire down, but not before the home sustained heavy structural damage from the explosion.
