Howe Ave. Fire (Shelton, CT) 1/22/14

SHELTON, CT – At approximately 5:20pm on January 22, 2014, Shelton Companies 1, 4 and 5 were dispatched to 593 Howe Avenue for a working fire reported from a firefighter on scene. Company 1’s Ladder 7 arrived shortly thereafter confirming the first report. The fire appeared to be located on the first floor of the 2 ½ story wood frame residence. Members forced entry to the first floor and immediately found an unconscious victim located just inside the door. The victim was quickly removed to EMS and the primary search continued. The rest of the search proved negative and the fire was quickly knocked down. Unfortunately, the resident who was removed and taken in critical condition to Bridgeport Hospital’s Burn Unit, died the following morning.
