Drone Footage of Bristol Babcock Factory Fire (Waterbury, CT) 8/13/15
WATERBURY, CT - At approximately 9:30pm on August 13, 2015, the Waterbury Fire Department was dispatched to the vacant Bristol Babcock Factory located on Bristol Street along the Naugatuck River. The heavy timber construction building was the scene of previous fires and has been vacant for over 20 years. Due to it’s condition, firefighters were forced to take a defensive stance on the fire and attack it from the exterior. Firefighting operations proved difficult due to it’s location right in the middle of the approximately 500,000 acre property. The fire was mostly contained by the following afternoon, but companies would remain on scene dousing difficult to reach hot spots for days.
