Mount Pleasant St. Fire (Derby, CT) 1/26/15

DERBY, CT – At approximately 7:30pm on January 26, 2015, the Derby Fire Department was dispatched to a reported house fire at 135 Mount Pleasant Street. Companies responding to the scene reported a working fire from a distance due to the heavy fire showing from the home located on top of a large hill. When units arrived on scene they found a duplex heavily involved on the left side apartment. Initial operations were difficult due to heavy winds and snow related to the blizzard warning that was in effect for the area. Fortunately 10 people, a dog, and an iguana escaped from the structure without injury. Two firefighters sustained minor injuries.
