SHELTON, CT - At approximately 12:45pm on February 1, 2018, the Shelton Police Department responded to 77 Long Hill Avenue for what would turn out to be a barricaded man standoff situation. It was reported by 911caller that the man might be in possession of a gun. He also had multiple active arrest warrants from several other cities in Connecticut. Police surrounded the residence and the Shelton PD Press Release stated that detectives received information that the man planned to commit suicide by cop. The Southwest Region 2 Special Response Team was mobilized and responded to the scene to conduct operations. Shortly after, Detective Christopher Nugent persuaded the man to come out peacefully and the incident ended without injury.
Not my usual fire service incident, but it was great to photograph and watch our PD work. Unbelievable professionalism and tactics. Shelton Police have a PRESS RELEASE on this incident posted to their Facebook page.
