Main St. 2nd Alarm (Seymour, CT) 8/29/20
SEYMOUR, CT - At approximately 12:15pm on August 29, 2020, the Seymour Fire Department was dispatched to 149 Main Street for the reported building fire. First companies on scene found heavy fire from a 3 story apartment building with a commercial 1st floor. A second alarm was struck almost immediately due to the fire conditions as well as the inability to attack the fire because of power needing to be cut to the structure to safely perform fire suppression duties. Fire had run all 3 floors and was in the walls and roof. Companies were pulled out for a defensive attack at one point to due to a partial collapse in the roof area. Mutual aid was called from multiple towns including Beacon Falls, Derby, Oxford, Shelton, and Woodbridge. The fire was put under control around 4:30pm and there were no reported injuries.
