Ash Creek Water Rescue (Bridgeport, CT) 2/14/22
BRIDGEPORT, CT - At approximately 1:30pm on February 14, 2022, the Bridgeport Fire Department was dispatched to Gilmore Avenue at Midland Avenue for a reported water rescue in Ash Creek. Dispatch received reports of a woman making her way down to the water and dropping what the caller reported as an infant into the water and then leaving. Multiple companies from multiple city agencies from Bridgeport and Fairfield operated at the scene for approximately 2 hours before calling off the search due to satisfactory information received from investigations of the woman and the father reporting all children were home safe. Operations had proved difficult for those on scene due to the shallow water and thick silt of the creek. Boats, divers, and rescue personal in cold water suits had a hard time navigating these conditions which also lead to extended decon and torn cold water suits.
