Island Brook Ave. 2nd Alarm Fire (Bridgeport, CT) 10/24/22

BRIDGEPORT, CT - At approximately 10:15pm on October 24, 2022, the Bridgeport Fire Department received multiple calls for a building fire in the area of North Avenue and Front Street. First companies arriving on scene found heavy smoke showing from a 50x100 flooring store/warehouse located on Island Brooke Avenue and a 2nd alarm was struck soon after. Once members forced their way into the structure, it took some time to locate the fire in zero visibility and high heat conditions. The main body of fire was found to be in a dumpster about mid building and was communicating to nearby debris. At one point in the fire, members were evacuated from the roof due to concerns of high heat affecting the truss construction. A drone was then utilized to visualize the current conditions of the roof. No injuries were reported and all occupants were safely out of the building before FD arrival.
